Pick the pen or a stamp from the toolbar. Press ⌥⇧D again to go back to clicking.
Tips
From experience.

A graphics tablet (Wacom and similar) gives you real pressure, and the pen’s buttons work out of the box: right-click undoes, and the erase button erases while you hold it.

Turn on Preferences → “Keep the drawing” to leave your working on screen between steps and add to it.

Pick the Teaching or Kids icon set so the stamps you use most are first in the picker.

Do I need a graphics tablet? +
No. A trackpad or mouse works, and LivePen simulates pressure from your speed so strokes still taper. A tablet gives you real pressure and feels closest to a whiteboard pen.
Can I use it in a classroom, not just online? +
Yes. On a projector or a big screen, LivePen works the same way: draw over whatever is showing.
Can I keep my drawing while I move on? +
Yes. Set Preferences → When drawing stops → “Keep the drawing”, and your ink and undo history come back when you start drawing again.
Does it work with PDFs and worksheets? +
Yes. LivePen draws over any app, so a PDF in Preview, a worksheet in a browser or a document in Pages all work.
